Wooden Deck Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu

Wooden Deck Construction

Our decks on piles are anchored more securely than on a concrete slab!

For your wooden deck in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, by a contractor serving Chambly, La Prairie, and the surrounding cities, contact CONSTRUCTION APC. Our company has been in business since 2018 and is registered with the Régie du bâtiment (general contractor's license no. 5762-3688-01) and the APCHQ.

With over 10 years of experience in deck construction, we are capable of completing your project while adhering to the Building Code. We also build gazebos, pergolas, and elevated terraces (attached or detached from the house). We can also construct tiered terraces, wooden steps, and other wooden structures: balconies, decks, spa areas, outdoor kitchen spaces, privacy panels, wooden walls, etc.

You can choose a material other than treated wood for the construction of your deck or other outdoor structure. Ground-level decks do not require a construction permit, unlike elevated terraces.

Wooden Deck on Piles or Concrete Blocks

To remain stable and securely anchored to the ground, a deck needs a good foundation. With the freeze-thaw cycles we experience in our province, the ground moves in the spring. For the construction of your treated wood deck, we use screw piles, which resist ground movements.

Screw piles are extremely stable and strong support bases. These large metal piles (tube-shaped) are screwed into the ground (below the frost line) using a machine. They securely support the structure of your decks, terraces, gazebos, pergolas, balconies, and others. In addition to resisting ground movement, these piles allow decks to be perfectly leveled without requiring any excavation.

At the client's choice, we can use concrete blocks instead of piles. This is a more economical option to support decks and other structures. They are simply placed on the ground (after leveling the ground and covering it with crushed stone), and then wooden pillars are inserted. Note that wooden decks on concrete blocks may be less stable than decks on piles during the spring thaw, which causes the ground to move.

Frame of Your Wooden Deck

To build the frame of your wooden deck, we use 2-inch x 8-inch joists, supported every 8 feet. We cover the joists and support beams with a waterproof membrane. The screws and bolts we use for the construction of your wooden deck are stainless steel.
