Camera Inspection of French Drains

If your drain is defective and less than 30 years old, it is probably because a pipe is clogged or has been perforated by a root. Before considering an expensive replacement, call us to perform a camera inspection of your French drain. The video footage collected will allow us to identify the problem and determine the location and cause of the issue. We will share the video with you on a USB drive.

We can determine if a pipe is clogged with sand or iron ocher. This often happens when the crushed stones placed on your drain are not covered with a geotextile membrane. The pipes may also have been displaced by unstable soil. Once the location of the problem is found, we can excavate in a targeted manner to address it.

If our team does not find any issues with the pipes, we will need to excavate to ensure the system is at the correct height or if it has sagged and taken a wrong angle for water to flow. We will check if there are enough crushed stones and ensure the pump is working correctly. If not, we will replace it.

We will let you know if parts of the system need to be replaced or if it is evident that the drain is at the end of its useful life. We can then remove and replace it with a new French drain.

When to Perform a French Drain Inspection?

The useful life of a French drain is about 30 years. If your basement is more humid than usual, if water accumulates on the ground near your foundation walls, or if cracks have formed and water has infiltrated your basement, then it is necessary to perform a camera inspection of your French drain.
